When to see a child psychiatrist?
It is a good idea to take your child to a child and adolescent psychiatry specialist when you notice that your child has difficulties concentrating, adapting to their environment, has difficulties forming bonds with their peers or finding their way in a new school. Changes in the family situation are often difficult for the child to understand, in which case the help of a psychiatrist or therapist can be invaluable.
What does a gynaecological consultation look like in girls?
First of all, such a visit requires the consent of the child’s parent. The doctor explains the visit in detail and the examination itself is carried out with extreme delicacy. The main difference between a gynaecological visit for girls and women who are already having intercourse is the ultrasound examination. In girls, it is usually performed through the abdominal integuments. In this way, the doctor is able to assess the uterus and adnexa without causing discomfort to the young patient.
What is a neuropsychological diagnosis?
This is a variation of psychological diagnosis, during which functions such as visual perception, auditory perception, language functions, thinking, memory and attention are examined in detail. This allows us to determine what therapeutic interventions will be most optimal from the perspective of the child’s difficulties.
