Who is an ADHD diagnostician?

An ADHD specialist is a psychiatrist or child psychologist who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of attention deficits and hyperactivity in children, adolescents, and adults. Thanks to their experience and modern diagnostic tools, they can accurately determine the type and severity of the disorder and then develop an individualized support plan for the patient.

Problems worth seeking help with:

  • Concentration difficulties in a child or adult
  • Excessive impulsivity and lack of emotional control
  • Difficulties with learning, work, or social functioning
  • Sleep disorders
  • Difficulty organizing and planning daily tasks

What is the ADHD diagnostic process like?

The stages of ADHD diagnostics in adults are usually as follows:

ADHD diagnostics in children include a package of four sessions with a psychologist:

  • basic diagnostic interview (approximately 1.5 hours) – the meeting with the psychologist is conducted exclusively with the parents, without the child’s participation; Based on the information obtained, the psychologist determines the next steps for the diagnosis.
  • psychological observation of the child (approx. 1 hour) – the child and parents participate in the meeting; it involves playing and/or talking with their son or daughter.
  • administering the Conners 3 diagnostic test (approx. 1 hour)
  • dissemination and discussion of results (approx. 1 hour)

A consultation with a child psychiatrist is required to make a diagnosis in children.

  • DIVA test (Diagnostic Interview for ADHD in Adults)
