Who is a child psychiatrist?

A child psychiatrist is a doctor who specializes in diagnosing and treating mental, emotional, and developmental disorders in children and adolescents. Their role is to assess the child’s mental state, make a diagnosis, and select the appropriate form of therapy, which may include pharmacotherapy or collaboration with a psychologist or therapist. The doctor then analyzes the symptoms and decides on further treatment – ​​this may include observation, referral for additional testing, recommendation of psychological therapy, or, in justified cases, initiation of pharmacological treatment. The entire process takes place in an atmosphere of understanding and support, ensuring the child feels safe.
