What is an oncologist?
An oncologist is a doctor who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer. They support patients at every stage of the disease – from early detection, through consultations before and after surgery, to complementary therapy and post-treatment follow-up. An oncologist collaborates with other specialists to provide patients with comprehensive medical care.

What is an oncology visit like?
The visit begins with a detailed medical history and a review of the patient’s medical records. The doctor assesses the patient’s health status, the course of the disease, and the risks associated with the planned treatment. The oncologist then performs a physical examination and, if necessary, orders additional diagnostic tests, such as biopsies or imaging studies. After gathering all the information, the clinician presents the patient with a personalized treatment and follow-up care plan.

Nationwide Cancer Risk Assessment Program – the main goal of the program is to provide a personalized prevention plan to each participant. Thanks to modern, precise genetic testing and based on information about cancer in the family, it is possible to determine the individual risk of disease and adjust the plan of protective measures. The personalized plan may indicate the need for regular tests from the age of 25, not 50.

What does a consultation with a surgeon-oncologist involve?
On the basis of the test results already in hand, the doctor is able to direct further diagnostics, making the appropriate diagnosis. The next step is to establish a treatment plan and a scheme for monitoring the effects of this treatment.
What types of surgical-oncological procedures are performed?
At the Ginemedica Medical Centre we perform minor diagnostic and surgical procedures. Mainly these are skin lesion removals, biopsies (breast lesions, thyroid), colposcopies.
How do you prepare for a surgical procedure?
All recommendations will be made by your doctor during the consultation preceding the procedure. Depending on the specific procedure, a radiologist, dermatologist, endocrinologist or just a surgeon-oncologist will tell you about the procedure and its preparation.
