Laryngology

The laryngologist diagnoses and treats diseases of the ears, sinuses, nose, trachea, larynx, bronchi, oesophagus and pharynx. This doctor removes foreign bodies from the ears, throat, nose and trachea, treats nasal fractures and carries out ear canal patency procedures.
It is advisable to go for an ENT consultation if the patient experiences noise or unpleasant pressure in the ears, if hearing has deteriorated markedly, pressure is felt in the throat, larynx or trachea, unexpected nosebleeds occur. During the visit, the doctor may also perform an endoscopic examination or tympanometry.

Frenectomy

A frenectomy may be necessary when the frenulum is too short and can make it difficult for the baby to suck at the breast,
which often hastens the baby’s transition to formula milk. A consequence of a too-short frenulum can also be diastema, i.e. a gap between the incisors. The procedure is carried out under local anaesthetic by an ENT doctor and brings immediate improvement.
