
prof. dr hab. n. med. Błażej Misiak
Specialization: Specialist in psychiatry, professor of medical sciences and health sciences.
Experience: In 2015 he defended his doctoral dissertation, in 2018 he obtained the degree of habilitated doctor, and in 2021 the academic title of professor. He gained his professional experience working in the stationary and day departments of the Lower Silesian Mental Health Center in Wrocław, the hospital in Ostrów Wielkopolski and the 4th Military Clinical Hospital with a Polyclinic in Wrocław, as well as a mental health clinic. Currently, he also works at the Department of Psychiatry at the Medical University in Wrocław, where he is the Head of the Department of Consultative Psychiatry and Neurobiological Research, and he is researching the biological determinants of mental disorders. In 2019, he was appointed to the Council of Young Psychiatry Experts at the Patient’s Rights Ombudsman.
Training and scientific work: He is the author of numerous publications in the field of psychiatry. He presented the results of his research at numerous national and international conferences.
Membership: He is a member of the European Society of Neuropsychopharmacology (ECNP). He is also a member of the editorial board of Psychoneuroendocrinology, Frontiers in Cellular Neuroscience, Revista de Psiquiatria y Salud Mental and Journal of Applied Genetics, and is the editor-in-chief of Frontiers in Psychiatry. He has repeatedly reviewed publications for prestigious journals in the field of psychiatry, such as the American Journal of Psychiatry, Lancet Psychiatry, Schizophrenia Bulletin, Schizophrenia Research, and Psychiatry Research.
Other: He was twice a laureate of the START scholarship of the Foundation for Polish Science, the Supertalents in Medicine plebiscite, Polityka’s Scientific Awards, and the ECNP and World Federation of Societies of Biological Psychiatry (WFSBP) awards for young scientists.
He also conducts psychiatric consultations in English.
