Chronic Spontaneous Urticaria – What Is It and Why Is It Important?
Chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU) is a dermatological condition characterized by recurrent, itchy urticarial wheals and angioedema lasting at least 6 weeks without an apparent cause. It affects approximately 1% of the population and significantly reduces patients’ quality of life.
Symptoms and Diagnosis: The main symptoms of CSU include itchy urticarial wheals and swelling, which may appear on different parts of the body. Diagnosis involves a detailed medical history and laboratory tests to rule out other potential causes of the symptoms. Early diagnosis and appropriate treatment are essential to improving patients’ quality of life.
